About Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department (Government of Punjab)
The Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department (SH&MED) is a core department of the Government of Punjab, Pakistan, responsible for policy-making, planning, and management of tertiary healthcare services and medical education across the province.
The department oversees a vast network of teaching hospitals, medical universities, and dental/medical colleges in Punjab. Its mandate includes:
Improving specialized healthcare facilities through modern hospitals and clinical services.
Managing recruitment, training, and career development of healthcare professionals.
Regulating medical, dental, nursing, and allied health education under provincial jurisdiction.
