Role Introduction
As a Data Analyst at NLC, you’ll sit close to core business operations, partnering with finance, fleet, commercial, projects, and HR teams to deliver dashboards, forecasts, and decision support. You’ll clean and model data from multiple sources (ERP/HRIS, TMS/FMS, finance ledgers, IoT/telematics), build repeatable pipelines, and present insights that improve on-time delivery, asset utilization, fuel efficiency, margins, and customer service. The role is ideal for analysts who blend SQL/Python/Excel skills with business acumen and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipelines & ETL: Ingest, clean, and transform data from ERP, transport/fleet systems, finance ledgers, and spreadsheets; automate recurring jobs.
- BI Dashboards & Reporting: Build and maintain Power BI/Tableau/Looker dashboards for KPIs such as OTD, route performance, turnaround time, fuel variance, revenue per km, and capacity utilization.
- Analysis & Forecasting: Apply descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive techniques (time-series trends, cohort analysis, ABC/XYZ, what-if scenarios).
- Data Quality & Governance: Implement validation rules, reconcile mismatches, and document data dictionaries/lineage; support maker–checker controls.
- Cost & Profitability Insights: Analyze lane-wise costs, vehicle utilization, and project profitability; highlight leakage and optimization opportunities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Gather requirements, demo dashboards, capture feedback, and iterate quickly; translate business questions into analytical specs.
- Automation & Scripting: Use SQL and Python for ad-hoc analysis, batch jobs, and lightweight ML where appropriate; version control with Git.
- Compliance & Security: Handle PII and operational data per policy; follow least-privilege access and audit logs.
- Documentation: Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and query libraries to ensure continuity and handover readiness.
- Ad-hoc Support: Provide rapid analysis for executive reviews and quarterly planning; assist audits with data extracts and reconciliations.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Education: BS/BE/MA/MSc in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or related from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on analytics/BI experience in medium/large organizations (logistics/engineering/public sector exposure is a plus).
- Technical Stack (preferred):
- SQL (window functions, CTEs, performance basics)
- Python (pandas, numpy; basic scikit-learn is a plus)
- Power BI / Tableau / Looker for dashboards
- Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas)
- Familiarity with APIs/ETL tools and version control (Git)
- Soft Skills: Business storytelling, stakeholder management, documentation, and the discipline to deliver reliable outputs to deadlines.
Skills Snapshot
- Data wrangling, joins, and reconciliations (SQL/Python)
- KPI design and executive dashboards (Power BI/Tableau/Looker)
- Forecasting and variance analysis (time-series, cohorts)
- Cost, margin, and utilization analytics
- Data quality rules, lineage, and documentation
- Clear communication and stakeholder alignment
Experience Requirements
Show 24–60 months of relevant experience with portfolio/examples: dashboards you’ve built, queries/scripts you own, and measurable business outcomes (e.g., reduced turnaround time, improved forecast accuracy, or faster monthly reporting). Highlight automation or data quality wins (e.g., cut manual prep by 50%).
Salary & Benefits
The expected range for Data Analyst at NLC is PKR 120,000 – 200,000 per month, plus fringe benefits per policy. Contracts are extendable based on performance and organizational needs.
