Role & Responsibilities

As Head Internal Audit, you will:

• Lead and direct the internal audit department, setting strategy, audit planning and execution, and ensuring alignment with the bank’s objectives and the regulatory framework.
• Report directly to the Board Audit Committee, presenting audit findings, risk reports and status updates, ensuring that the board is well‑informed.
• Develop and implement the internal audit charter, annual audit plan, risk‑based audit methodologies, follow‑up mechanisms and the monitoring of audit recommendations.
• Oversee audits across all business lines, support functions, and branches—covering credit risk, operational risk, compliance, information technology, and financial controls.
• Ensure that audits are performed in accordance with professional internal audit standards, regulatory requirements (including those of the State Bank of Pakistan) and best‑practice frameworks.
• Provide advisory services to management on internal controls, process improvements, risk mitigation and governance enhancements.
• Collaborate with senior management, external auditors and regulators to ensure audit deliverables are timely, accurate and actionable.
• Mentor, manage and develop a high‑performing internal audit team, fostering professionalism, independence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should bring:

• A relevant professional qualification (for example CIA, CA, ACCA, CPA or similar) and substantial experience in banking internal audit or risk management at senior leadership level.
• Significant experience (typically 120+ months) in internal audit within a regulated financial institution, including direct exposure to SBP‑style oversight, audit committee reporting and bank‑wide risk management.
• Thorough knowledge of internal audit standards, risk‑based audit methodologies, regulatory compliance (in particular SBP regulations for microfinance banks) and banking operations.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication and stakeholder‑management skills—capable of engaging with board members, senior management and regulators.
• Excellent analytical, report‑writing and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex audit findings into clear, actionable insights.
• High ethical standards, integrity, independence of judgement and a commitment to professional excellence.
