Professional Duties & Operational Scope
The Clinical Technician (Surgical) serves as an essential scrub and circulating technician in the operating rooms. Daily clinical functions include:
- Preparing operating theatres, scrubbing for surgical procedures, and organizing specialized sterile instrument trays according to surgical specialties.
- Maintaining strict sterile technique, gowning, draping, and assisting the surgical team during surgical interventions.
- Performing rigorous instrument counts, sponge counts, and sharp counts in collaboration with theatre nursing staff before and after surgery.
- Operating autoclaves, ensuring sterilization quality control, managing surgical consumable supplies, and decontaminating surgical hardware post-procedure.
