The computerized database infrastructure of UHS Lahore houses critical records encompassing medical entrance tests, university admissions, student registrations, clinical examinations, transcript verification, and human resource databases. The Database Administrator oversees the structural integrity, security, high-availability clusters, and performance tuning of relational, transactional, and distributed databases to guarantee uninterrupted access for students, medical faculties, and university administrative directorates.
Technical Functions and Database Administration Deliverables
The Database Administrator leads backend database engineering, data security, and disaster recovery operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise relational and distributed databases (such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL).
- Implementing multi-tier application database connectivity, query optimization, index tuning, and database storage capacity planning.
- Automating daily transactional backup regimens, transaction log truncations, and testing periodic bare-metal recovery scenarios.
- Enforcing stringent database security privileges, role-based access control (RBAC), data encryption at rest and in transit, and auditing logs.
