The Punjab Forensic Science Authority (PFSA) is hiring six (06) specialists for the post of Forensic Scientist (DNA & Serology) on a Special Pay Package at its central forensic laboratory in Lahore.
DNA Analysis and Forensic Serology Duties
The scientist executes biological fluid identification and STR DNA profiling. Core duties include:
- Identifying blood, semen, saliva, and biological fluids using presumptive and confirmatory serological tests.
- Extracting DNA from touch evidence, bone samples, teeth, bloodstains, and hair roots using automated robotic platforms.
- Performing PCR amplification of autosomal STRs, Y-STRs, and mitochondrial DNA.
- Analyzing capillary electrophoresis electropherograms (GeneMapper ID-X) and calculating biostatistical match probabilities.
Candidate Profile and Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must possess an MS/M.Phil. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Forensic Science, Virology, Immunology, Microbiology, or Molecular Genetics, OR M.Sc (Hons) in Entomology/Immunology/Biological Sciences with mandatory 4-credit-hour courses in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, and Population Statistics. Candidates must have at least three (03) years of accredited forensic DNA laboratory experience. Age: 28 to 35 years. Punjab Domicile.
Salary and Appointment Terms
The post offers Rs. 325,000/- per month + 10% annual increment (half salary during training) on a 3-year contract.
