The Pakistan Meteorological Department invites Expressions of Interest from experienced supercomputing infrastructure specialists for the position of HPC (High-Performance Computing Infrastructure) Expert (Ref: PK-PMD-414800-CS-INDV) under IFRAP.
Project Context and Supercomputing Facility
To run cutting-edge numerical weather models and multi-ensemble storm surge simulations, PMD is procuring and deploying advanced High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, petabyte-scale parallel file systems, and high-speed interconnect fabrics at its National Weather Forecasting Center.
Technical Responsibilities and Cluster Management
The HPC Expert advises on cluster architectural design, node sizing, low-latency interconnects (InfiniBand), parallel storage systems (Lustre/GPFS), power and cooling infrastructure, job schedulers (SLURM), and MPI compiler optimizations. The consultant reviews vendor procurement specifications and ensures high uptime for mission-critical weather simulations.
Candidate Document Checklist
Applicants must assemble their submission dossier:
- Detailed CV detailing HPC cluster deployments and operational management.
- Attested copies of Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Computational Science.
- Documentary evidence of at least 10 years in HPC architecture with reference to two comparable projects.
- Valid CNIC or passport copy.
- Verifiable technical references.
