The Chemist (Lab) conducts routine titrations, spectrophotometry, and chemical assays to guarantee complete conformity with national PSQCA and International Olive Council (IOC) benchmarks.
Core Responsibilities & Work Functions
The daily operational scope and functional deliverables for this role include:
- Conduct routine chemical testing of olive oil samples for Free Fatty Acids (FFA), Peroxide Value (PV), and moisture content.
- Operate and calibrate laboratory analytical instrumentation including spectrophotometers, refractometers, and analytical balances.
- Perform UV absorbance testing (K232, K270) to detect oxidative degradation and verify oil purity.
- Maintain detailed quality control logbooks, certificates of analysis (COA), and batch release documentation.
- Uphold Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), chemical safety protocols, and laboratory waste disposal guidelines.
