Uninterrupted municipal and deep-well water supply is indispensable for operating sterilization autoclaves, renal dialysis machines, operation theaters, fire-fighting reserves, and clinical wards. The Pump Driver operates and manages heavy-duty electric and diesel water pumps across the hospital.
Core Responsibilities & Work Functions
The daily operational scope and functional deliverables for this role include:
- Operate high-capacity electric water pump motors and auxiliary diesel pumping units according to hospital water demand schedules.
- Monitor overhead and underground water storage reservoir levels, ensuring adequate reserves are maintained for clinical wards and fire hydrants.
- Perform daily preventive checks on water pump bearings, lubrication levels, pipeline intake valves, and electric motor starters.
- Detect, report, and promptly address pipeline leakages, airlocks, and pressure drops throughout the institutional water network.
- Coordinate with the public health engineering team to facilitate periodic chemical chlorination and cleaning of hospital water tanks.
