The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore invites online applications from eligible and qualified researchers for the position of Research Associate in the high-impact research project titled "Development of NSP free Vaccine for control of Foot and Mouth Disease in Pakistan" at the Institute of Microbiology, Main Campus, Lahore.
Project Scope and Research Responsibilities
The research project focuses on advancing indigenous vaccine development against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in livestock using non-structural protein (NSP)-free formulations. Key research responsibilities include:
- Executing cell culture propagation, viral antigen production, and purification protocols.
- Performing serological assays (ELISA, VNT) and advanced molecular diagnostics (PCR, RT-qPCR, sequencing).
- Documenting laboratory experimental data, quality control metrics, and vaccine stability profiles.
- Assisting principal investigators in drafting scientific progress reports, research publications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Candidate Profile and Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold an M.Phil degree in Microbiology, Pathology, or an equivalent discipline in a relevant field with no third division in their entire academic career from an HEC-recognized university. Candidates possessing verified hands-on practical experience in molecular biology tools and serological diagnostic techniques will be given preference.
Appointment Terms and Financial Remuneration
The position is purely on a contract basis for a period of three (03) years under the research project framework. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 75,000/- per month with an annual 7% increment over the 3-year project duration. Contractual research project engagement does not confer any right to permanent university service.
