National University of Technology (NUTECH) Islamabad invites applications from skilled machining specialists for the position of Senior Lab Engineer (Skills) – CNC Machinist / Programmer on a contract basis.
Institutional Context and Advanced Manufacturing Mandate
Ranked first in Technology Development and Application by WURI, NUTECH maintains modern computer numerical control (CNC) machining centers, rapid prototyping facilities, and mechanical fabrication workshops. The Senior Lab Engineer trains engineering students and vocational trainees in precision multi-axis milling, turning, automated G-code programming, and CAD/CAM fabrication supporting indigenous industrial prototyping.
Technical Responsibilities and Workshop Scope
The Senior Lab Engineer leads CNC machine programming, workshop training, and fabrication operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing G-code and M-code programs and generating toolpaths using Mastercam, SolidCAM, or Siemens NX CAM software.
- Setting up and operating 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC vertical machining centers and CNC turning lathes for precision parts.
- Instructing students and industry trainees in tool selection, feeds, speeds, workpiece fixturing, and precision measurement using CMM and micrometers.
- Executing preventive maintenance, spindle calibration, lubrication schedules, and emergency troubleshooting of CNC machinery.
- Enforcing workshop safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, and machine interlocking protocols.

Candidates possessing Matric or higher education alongside certified professional CNC machining and programming experience must prepare the following dossier:

- Documented service certificates verifying extensive hands-on experience as a CNC machinist or programmer.
