The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) announces 17 positions for Sub-Engineer (Electronics/Electrical) (PPS-05) on open merit for deployment across 27 critical river discharge monitoring sites on the Indus Basin Irrigation System (IBIS).
Institutional Context and Telemetry Network Infrastructure
IRSA regulates river water distribution among provinces. Under the federal Telemetry Project, modern acoustic Doppler velocity meters, ultrasonic water level sensors, and satellite telemetry stations are being installed across major barrages and river junctions. The appointed sub-engineers will be attached with WAPDA during execution and maintenance phases for comprehensive field operations.
Operational Scope and Field Technical Duties
Sub-Engineers maintain sensor hardware, calibrate solar power systems, service data logger units, and inspect electronic telemetry equipment installed at remote river gauging sites. Duties include troubleshooting wireless signal transmission, maintaining field equipment logbooks, conducting periodic sensor checks, and reporting hydrological telemetry data to central server nodes.
