What you’ll do (Key Responsibilities)
- Run quasi-judicial proceedings of the Commission: schedule hearings, maintain cause lists, ensure timely documentation, and enforce procedural discipline.
- Administer case files end-to-end: from initiation to final orders, tracking statutory timelines and procedural checkpoints.
- Draft high-stakes legal documents: show-cause notices, hearing notices, interim orders, directions, and related correspondence.
- Appear on CCP’s behalf (as required) before courts/tribunals to sign pleadings and present matters professionally.
- Maintain the official record: update proceeding logs, exhibits, and court registers; ensure safe custody and retrieval.
- Advise on regulatory procedure: assist the Commission on administrative, procedural, and regulatory issues, and ensure compliance with the Competition Act, 2010 and relevant regulations.
- Coordinate with stakeholders: liaise with benches, legal departments, and external parties to keep matters moving efficiently.
- Uphold integrity: maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and high professional standards under pressure and tight deadlines.
Who should apply (Eligibility & Experience)
- Education: LLB (minimum); LLM and/or Barrister-at-Law preferred.
- Experience:
- 10 years post-qualification for LLB holders or
- 8 years post-qualification for Master’s/Barrister degree holders.
- Background that stands out: Prior service as a Civil Judge or in a senior judicial/quasi-judicial capacity is highly preferred.
- Core competencies: Deep command of competition law (Competition Act, 2010), procedural and administrative law, excellent legal drafting, research rigor, confident advocacy, and stakeholder management.
