Role Summary
Army Public School & College (APS&C) Fort Road, Rawalpindi is seeking a Lab Assistant (Computer) to run a disciplined, student-focused computer lab for secondary and higher secondary classes. Key Responsibilities
- Daily Lab Operations
- Open/close lab on schedule; ensure systems, projector, and peripherals are ready before class.
- Maintain attendance and usage logs; enforce seating plans and acceptable-use rules.
- Set up class-specific folders, sample code, and task sheets for practical periods.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Install and update operating systems, drivers, and required curriculum software under IT policy.
- Diagnose routine issues (slow PCs, printer jams, login errors, network drops) and escalate when needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance: disk cleanup, updates, antivirus scans, and peripheral checks.
- Networking & User Management
- Assist with basic networking tasks: checking connectivity, switches, cables, and labeling.
- Create and manage student accounts as per policy; reset passwords with proper authorization.
- Coordinate with IT/vendor support for complex network or hardware incidents.
- Asset Management & Documentation
- Maintain hardware inventory (PCs, monitors, keyboards, mice, UPS units, projectors) with tags and condition notes.
- Keep software license records, warranty details, and repair history.
- Prepare monthly reports: uptime, incidents resolved, replacements required, consumables usage.
- Classroom & Exam Support
- Assist teachers during lessons: launching apps, distributing files, and monitoring student work.
- Set up exam environments (restricted access, locked browsers if applicable, power backups).
- Support practical assessments, viva prep, and demo sessions.
- Safety, Discipline & Compliance
- Enforce lab safety: cable management, dust control, surge/UPS checks, and emergency procedures.
- Monitor appropriate student conduct; report violations per school policy.
- Ensure data protection and responsible use of the internet and removable media.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: BS/B.Sc (Computer Science/IT) or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years managing a computer lab at secondary/higher secondary level; APS&C experience is a plus.
- Technical Fluency: Windows administration basics, common academic software, printers/scanners, and MS Office.
