The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has officially notified an 8% increase in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices for the month of October 2026, raising consumer tariffs across domestic and commercial sectors nationwide in response to rising global benchmark rates.

Under the revised pricing schedule effective from October 1 to October 31, 2026, the retail price of LPG has been raised by Rs 20.68 per kilogram, elevating the per-kilo consumer cost to Rs 279.34.

New domestic and commercial cylinder prices

According to the formal tariff determination issued by the regulatory authority:

The consumer price for a standard 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has increased by Rs 244.14, taking the new official maximum retail price to Rs 3,296.23, up from Rs 3,052.09 recorded in September.

For commercial consumers, the price of a 45.4-kilogram commercial cylinder has climbed by Rs 939, reaching Rs 12,682 across major urban centers and regional distribution depots.

Global benchmarks and import parity factors

OGRA officials stated that the upward tariff revision is directly linked to fluctuations in international contract prices, specifically the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (Aramco-CP) benchmark, which serves as the base reference for domestic import parity pricing.

While global petroleum product benchmarks saw modest declines—leading to fractional adjustments in domestic petrol and diesel pump prices—elevated seasonal demand for heating fuels in international energy markets exerted upward pressure on liquefied gas contracts.

Impact on household budgets and winter preparation

The price surge comes as households across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan begin stocking fuel supplies ahead of the winter season, during which piped natural gas pressures routinely drop in northern and hilly regions.

Consumer rights groups and domestic LPG distributors have urged regulatory bodies and local district administrations to strictly enforce the official notification across open markets, preventing arbitrary profiteering and overcharging by unauthorized cylinder retailers.
