Pakistani security forces have decisively thwarted a major cross-border infiltration attempt by armed militants along the Pakistan-Afghanistan international border in the Kurram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, neutralizing 12 terrorists during an intense tactical engagement. The military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the operation, highlighting the heightened operational vigilance maintained by troops stationed along the western border.
According to official defense statements, border surveillance units detected movement of a heavily armed group of terrorists attempting to sneak into Pakistani territory under the cover of darkness. Ground forces swiftly maneuvered into interception positions, cutting off egress routes and engaging the hostile elements with precision fire.
Tactical Engagement and Suppression of Border Fire
During the confrontation, hostile elements received covering fire from adjacent posts on the other side of the border in an attempt to facilitate the infiltration. Pakistani troops responded with measured, concentrated artillery and small-arms fire, systematically neutralizing the threat and repelling cross-border aggression.
In the ensuing firefight, 12 militants, including foreign combatants, were killed on the spot, while several others sustained critical injuries as the remnants retreated across the international boundary. Security forces recovered a substantial cache of modern weaponry, communication gear, and night-vision equipment from the encounter site.
Supreme Sacrifice of Naib Subedar Hidayat Aman
During the fierce exchange of fire, Naib Subedar Hidayat Aman, a 40-year-old resident of Ghizer District in Gilgit-Baltistan, fought valiantly and embraced martyrdom in the defense of the motherland. The fallen soldier leaves behind a legacy of supreme commitment and steadfast valor on the frontline.
Following the clash, security personnel initiated an intensive sanitization operation across the Kurram sector to sweep adjacent ravines, eliminate potential sleeper elements, and seal mountain passes against further infiltration attempts.
Strategic Resolve Under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam
The military leadership reiterated that the foiled infiltration delivers clear evidence of persistent threats emanating from safe havens across the western frontier. Islamabad has repeatedly urged interim Afghan authorities to fulfill international commitments and prevent their territory from being exploited by extremist networks to conduct cross-border attacks inside Pakistan.
Federal authorities affirmed that the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and the nation remain resolute in eradicating the scourge of terrorism under the vision of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
