In intensified counter-terrorism engagements across Balochistan, Pakistan security forces successfully eliminated four heavily armed militants in an intelligence-based operation in Kalat District, while a Pakistan Army officer embraced martyrdom when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a military patrol in Gwadar District. The operational developments were confirmed through official press releases issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military media wing stated that security forces conducted a targeted intelligence-based raid in the rugged terrain of Jattakabad, Kalat District, following verified intelligence tracking the presence of an active terrorist sleeper cell. Upon cordoning off the militant hideout, troops encountered intense gunfire from heavily entrenched hostile elements, prompting an aggressive and coordinated tactical response.
Neutralization of Militant Cell in Kalat
During the ensuing firefight, four militants were killed on the spot. Security forces recovered a substantial cache of military-grade weapons, automatic assault rifles, detonators, and communications equipment from the compound. According to field intelligence reports, the neutralized militants had been actively involved in orchestrating targeted assassinations, extortion schemes against local traders, and sabotage attempts directed at civil infrastructure along national highway corridors.
A comprehensive sanitization operation was immediately initiated across surrounding ridgelines and ravines to flush out any lingering logistical facilitators. Forensic experts and counter-terrorism teams have taken custody of recovered digital material to map out cross-border funding linkages and operational support networks.
Martyrdom of Major Wajahat Waheed in Gwadar
In a separate security engagement in the Shadi Kaur sector of Gwadar District, a routine reconnaissance and area clearance patrol was targeted by an externally triggered roadside improvised explosive device (IED). The blast struck the lead vehicle, resulting in the martyrdom of Major Wajahat Waheed, aged 34, a resident of Lahore, who was leading the operation from the front line.
Major Wajahat Waheed had rendered distinguished service across multiple challenging counter-terrorism deployments. His mortal remains were transported to his native city for funeral honors with full military protocol, attended by senior armed forces officers, civil administration officials, and bereaved family members. Security contingents subsequently sealed the Shadi Kaur perimeter and launched an intensive cordon-and-search operation to apprehend the perpetrators of the standoff IED attack.
Resolute National Commitment Against Terrorism
Reaffirming the military's unwavering determination, the ISPR emphasized that the armed forces of Pakistan, in close concert with law enforcement agencies and provincial intelligence units, remain resolutely committed to completely eliminating foreign-sponsored proxies and hostile networks operating in Balochistan. The statement declared that sacrifices rendered by valiant officers and soldiers further reinforce the state's resolve to safeguard national sovereignty, protect local populations, and secure strategic economic corridors.
